Primary and Secondary Beam Line Design by Urs Rohrer, PSI
A (Transfer) Beam Line is a hardware system to transport particles from location A to B. At PSI the 590 MeV proton transfer beam line to the target stations is designed for more than a megawatt ob beam power. Each of the four primary beam line sections is described. The basic beam line design is done with the computer codes Transport and Turtle. Transporting Muons is the main purpose of a today's secondary beam line. Each seconday beam line of the PSI experimental hall has a somewhat different design. The current Secondary Beam Line Control System has evolved from a former and simpler Secondary Beam Line Control system. Each of the 7 secondary beam line 's device settings are logged every 20 secs. All of the following mentioned Beam Line Design has been done with Graphic Transport and Turtle.
